Goals are important in leadership. They should be realistic, attainable & shared among all members. Some people use the term "common" goals. We use the word "shared" because it's uncommon to have shared goals. Shared goals suggest more depth. They suggest you're going to cooperate with each other, and that a bond will develop. And when two people have a strong bond with each other, they both give equally. With a strong bond, not all the giving is done by the leader alone. Never set a goal that involves numbers of "wins" whatever "wins" might mean to you--never. Set goals that revolve around working together as a team. Doing so will put you in position to "win" every "game." Progress has to be monitored on a regular basis and good work has to be rewarded and encouraged. Every goal has to be worthy of the team's commitment. The journey is so long, we have to create a series of objectives for which to strive. It can be anything that makes sense. We call it an energy cycle. In order to keep a team motivated over an extended interval of time, planned short bursts of energy like this can be very effective. If you're not fully committed to a course of action that allows use of your team's full commitment, then change your course. Every year is a journey. During the journey, your team should be led with exuberance and excitement. You should live the journey. You should live it right. You should live it together. You should live it shared. You should try to make one another better. You should get on one another if somebody's not doing their part. Yet you should hug one another when they are. You should be disappointed in a loss and exhilarated in a win. It's all about the journey. It should be honest and it should be real. It's not about winning or what other people's expectations of us may be. We're not going to fall into the traps that so many people fall into. That's not why we're going to play. We're going to play for innocence. For purity. I'm ready. There are no excuses. Let's GO! :)
1. Because we value faithfulness, our goal is promise keeping.
Thus, our mission is accountability. Accountability is a two-way
street. The Presidency is kept accountable by the First, Second,
Third and Fourth Counselors to the Presidency (collectively, the
distributor advocacy group). The distributors are kept
accountable to the Presidency thru the Articles of Faith and
Goals/Missions and Culture/Vision and Distributor Agreement and
Policies and Procedures and training and compliance with the
aforementioned.
2. Because we value counsel, our goal is optimization. Thus, our mission is outsourcing. We are accomplishing effective outsourcing by networked referrals, research, study and on-site visits to various potential and actual outsourcing partners in order to build a more pure and perfect union.
3. Because we value service, our goal is helping. Thus, our mission is teaching. What do we teach? Secondarily, we teach the benefits and proper use of our products. And we teach the principles of leadership and teamwork and who to focus upon and how to attract them. But, first and foremost, we teach our Articles of Faith (and their extensions, namely, Goals/Missions and Culture/Vision).
4. Because we value authority, our goal is obedience. Thus, our mission is compliance. We will apply for membership in the Direct Selling Association and go through their year long review process applied to all Pending Members. We will cooperate with all of the regulatory bodies to ensure our compliance with their various rules and regulations. We will hire the best MLM legal counsel. If a Hitler, arises, however, we will not obey such a one for the sake of conscience.
5. Because we value honesty, our goal is winning. Conversely, because we value winning, our goal is honesty. Thus, our mission is candidness. It isn't always "I love you and let's hold hands and skip." It's also "Get your rear in gear and what in blazes are you doing and why aren't you in/on the chat/call?!"
6. Because we value caring, our goal is hearing. Thus, our mission is listening. Our Counselors to the Presidency listen to our members. Our Presidency listens to our members and to our Counselors to the Presidency. Our Counselors to the Presidency and our members listen to the Presidency. Leaders instill respect for authority by instantly being: caring, direct, regularly communicative and honest. Like trust, this takes time. Caring also means respecting another's (property) rights. As in not stealing their self-esteem, for example. Caring is about leaving a member, in the end, built-up.
7. Because we value belief in God, our goal is persuasion. Thus, our mission is to not coerce. Free agency is our highest value. We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may. Thus, our members and our employees are not only free to believe; they are free not to believe. And we pray that all might learn from all. Because none of us are omniscient. Or know or have All Truth.
8. Because we value belief in unity, our goal is peace. Thus, our mission is to not attack other believers in God. A house divided against itself cannot stand and believers cannot defeat their common enemy, secular atheistic humanism, if they are too busy fighting each other.
9. Because we value evangelism, our goal is communication. Thus, our mission is to persuade. Persuade that God still speaks to us today. That He has never ceased conversing with us. And that we should both listen to and tell others about what He has said and continues to say to us. And thus fulfill the Great Commission.
10. Because we value humility, our goal is meekness. Thus, our mission is obedience to headship and righteous dominion. God over Messiah. Messiah over Parents. Parents over Children. Meekness is not weakness. Meekness is strength. The focus of true meekness is not in our outward behavior only or in our relationships to other human beings. Neither is the focus on our natural disposition. Rather, it is an inwardly developed tender-heartedness, and the performing of it is first and chiefly toward God. It is the attitude in which we accept God's will toward us as good, and thus without disputing or resisting.
11. Because we value prayer, our goal is revival. Thus, our mission is to be moved by God.
12. Because we value listening, our goal is effectiveness. Thus, our mission is cooperation.
13. Because we believe in family, our goal is unity. Thus, our mission is to never exercise unrighteous dominion. While it is true we are commanded to obey our parents, our parents are commanded to not provoke their children to wrath. Unrighteous dominion is when egregiously unfair decisions or actions are imposed upon subordinates without rational explanation. This is the one and only instance in which obedience to headship is not required. And a formal grievance process is then in order. Every level of Pure Hearts is encouraged to set up a family support system for their teams. It's like getting a vaccination shot to keep away the jealousy disease. We're a family meaning real love, real caring, pride in one another's accomplishments, and, again, no jealousy. Everything we do must be for the children, because, without the children, there is no future.
14. Because we believe in the saying: "all that glitters is not gold," our goal is passion. Thus, our mission is to never let those that depend upon us down. Crass materialism, greed and corruption are not allowed here. We are the "anti-MLM" MLM.
